POSTPARTUM NOURISHMENT FOR YOUR FIRST 40 DAYS

Fresh postpartum meals rooted in East Asian traditions, cooked locally, crafted to support your healing, and delivered to your door.

About me

My name is Jen and I’m a mom with a lifelong passion for feeding people.

When I was postpartum, I suddenly needed the kind of support I’m usually good at creating for everyone else: warm, thoughtfully designed meals that help you feel steady, restored, and cared for.

In Chinese families, that role is often filled by a yuesao—a confinement nanny who cooks daily meals during the “first month” and beyond, rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine and lessons passed down through generations. I searched for that kind of care near me in Westchester and Rockland and came up short. And the services I did find felt either too far away, too hard to access, or too rigid for how I wanted to recover.

So I created a modern version: fresh postpartum meals planned with your body, preferences, and life in mind—cooked locally and delivered to you in Westchester and Rockland County, throughout your first days as a mom.

My menu is grounded in traditional principles, but flexible and customized: dietary restrictions, ingredients you love (or hate), spice level, and even moments of delight—because nourishment shouldn’t feel like a punishment.

If you’re craving food that’s warm, deeply comforting, and made for this chapter, I’d love to cook for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I currently deliver throughout Westchester and Rockland County in New York. If you’re just outside that area, reach out—we could work something out with regard to a pickup location.

  • This depends on the week, since your body will need focused nourishment at different points in your journey. Think ginger and red date millet porridge, sesame oil rubbed chicken, braised beef with daikon and glass noodles…all meals specifically designed to be delicious and nutritious. You can expect warm broths and soups, teas, and lil treats because you more than deserve it.

  • We start with a short consultation to understand your due date (or baby’s arrival), dietary needs, preferences, and any postpartum priorities. Then I share a personalized menu proposal + delivery cadence for your first 40 days. Once you approve it, we schedule deliveries and I begin cooking.

  • The first 40 days are a traditional postpartum window focused on warming, restorative nourishment. Your plan typically includes a rotating mix of main dishes, porridges/soups, and supportive sides—all designed to be easy to heat and eat. If you want a shorter or longer timeline, we can customize that too. The full 40 days is about 6 weeks; there is a 5 day and 7 day a week option.

  • Yes. Meals are customized around dietary restrictions, ingredient dislikes, spice level, and flavor preferences. If you have allergies or strict requirements, tell me during the consult so I can confirm what’s possible.

  • They’re inspired by East Asian postpartum traditions and Traditional Chinese Medicine, but adapted for modern life—supportive and intentional without feeling rigid. You’ll see the principles reflected in the ingredients, cooking methods, and overall balance, with flexibility for what works for you.

  • Meals are delivered fresh and packaged for easy reheating, with simple instructions so you don’t have to think. Most dishes are designed to warm beautifully on the stovetop or in the microwave—whichever is easiest in the moment.

  • Other postpartum meal delivery services are cooked in a central kitchen and often frozen ahead of time. Additionally, there aren’t as many customization options, which would be reflected at Moxa Mom through special ingredients and cooking methods. What I offer is more akin to a private chef than a meal delivery service.
